God of the House of God

Welcome back to our journey in discovering the way to having a Spirit-filled life!

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Please understand that before you can be filled with the Spirit continually, you need to be first baptized in the Spirit.

If you have not been baptized in the Spirit or received the baptism of the Spirit then you need to read Luke 11:13 and see that this is the Promise of the Father as set forth in Acts 1:4, 2:33.

Obedience, prayer, and faith are necessary to receive the Promise of the Spirit. Acts 5:32

The way to receiving His Spirit or the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is clearly put forth in the Bible:

1. Believe His Promise to give you His Holy Spirit. James 1:6a

2. Ask Him in faith for the Gift. Luke 11:13

3. Obey God’s commandments (including “setting things right” in one’s life with the help of God). Acts 5:32

Follow the above scriptural steps and you WILL receive!

That is because God is Faithful to fulfill His Promise to anyone who meets His conditions!

Now this sincere soul searching and true repentance also involves forgiving, setting right, and reconciling (where possible) with anyone we may have offended In the past.

Perhaps you need to call, email, or write a letter to someone asking for their forgiveness. Or you may need to make restitution of something to another person. As you pray and ask God to help you to, “set things right” in your life, He will surely help you to remember and repent.

This may require some time for some people and many have fasted and prayed during this, “preparatory” period to get their hearts right in order to receive the Gift of His Spirit.

It is recommended that one read through the Book of Acts, particularly chapter 2; 8:17; 9:17; 10:45, 46; 19:6.

One will see plainly that the initial evidence of being baptized in the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues which the Spirit of God will inspire, i.e. “give utterance.”

If you have never sincerely prayed something like the following prayer, then please do so now and mean it with all your heart:

“Lord, I see from Your Word that You desire for me to be baptized in the Spirit. I surrender all my desires, my spirit, soul, and body to the control of Your Holy Spirit. Help me to set things right in my heart so I may receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Please give me the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Dear friend, once this all-important initial filling of the Holy Spirit – this Baptism of the Holy Spirit – is experienced by you, then we can go onto learning how to be filled with the Spirit again and again -continually!

The Lord bless you until next time!

So, this leads one to the inevitable, all-important questions:

How do I get filled with His Spirit?

How do I maintain such a Lifestyle?

Ephesians 5:19-21 is a good place to start.

I do hope that you are longing for the Spirit-filled Life, dear reader!

Sexual Addiction: Definition, Danger and Deliverance (7 steps)

What is it?

Do you have it?

Why is it so dangerous and destructive?

How can one ever get total freedom from this bondage?

What is it?

A very serious problem plaguing all facets of society these days is Sexual Addiction.

Sexual Addiction is a compulsive behavior that makes one lust after sexual gratification in one form or other.
It may involve actual physical intercourse with another, stimulating oneself physically, unclean conversation, writing, drawing or imagining immoral things, reading lewd stories or watching others engage in adultery, fornication or perverted forms of sex.   Only the first category mentioned above (physical intercourse) is lawful and right in the context of marriage and that too when motivated by genuine, self-sacrificial love and not lust.  These days, in addition to television, cable, video games, magazines, the devil has used the internet as one of the most secretive and potent tools of destruction especially of those bound to this sin.  He uses it draw many other, unassuming members of society as well into the bait.

Do you have it?

If you fall into any of these above categories, you are an addict to something that will ruin you from the inside out and something which will make you an enemy of God headed for great punishment in this life and in the next in Hell! It does not matter if you think you are basically, a good and responsible person or a, popular person or even a Christian. If you engage in sin, you will be destroyed sooner or later .For the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23a)

Why is it so dangerous and destructive?

Sexual Addiction is destructive because it is self-deception at its worst. One thinks that one can get some meaningful pleasure and then get over the repercussions of the act or thought but alas, it is never the case. The consequences are sure to follow. As sure as one who walks on burning coals will get his feet burned. (Proverbs 6:28) It will rob one of the right perspective of life and inner strife will result.

That’s right. People who are toying with sexual immorality lose their peace and are ever restless. Trying to cover up the sin will be ever haunting the one who engages in it. It is shameful. No matter what one has been blessed with in this life, an adulterous heart will undo all of it sometimes in a minute! Sometimes it will take a few years. Some get sudden diseases and die miserably. Some live and die miserably after losing their spouses, children, jobs, friends etc. Inevitably, you also end up hurting others and perhaps destroying them as well! That’s how sinister and deceptive this sin of toying with immorality is. It is miserable. All those who followed this life of lusting to the max and never turned completely away from their sin are in Hell. There is no exception. If they are still alive in the world, awaiting judgment, they cannot be but truly lonely, nervous, cowardly and miserable people trying to pretend all is well in their lives. The false image on the exterior betrays the truth of their, “running” from God and True Life on the inside.

Always remember: Lust never satisfies but true sacrificial love does. Having different sexual partners will destroy and not satisfy. However, having a God-given spouse in a faithful relationship will give true lasting contentment and happiness. God said, be sure that your sin will find you out in the Book of Joshua. (Joshua 32:23c) And so it will for the fool who does things contrary to Gods commands.

Now, there are those who sincerely want to repent but they think that they are just, “in too deep” to ever break free from this monster of an addiction! The marvelous truth and good news is that there is hope yet. No, there is more. There is total freedom and a life of joy and victory yet available for you in Christ!

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.(Hebrews 4:15)

Whether you are a professing atheist in bondage to sexual sin or a professing Christian who is bound by it, the bottom line is that you are in the same boat and need to repent in order to receive His Grace by faith to get absolute deliverance from this sin.

All addictions start slowly or better put, gradually. No one goes into hardcore immorality or drugs immediately. The devil baits them, they decide to give in and it’s just a matter of time before they are hooked. They become a monster. Their lives get out of control. Is this you? If you involved in any of the above categories mentioned at the beginning of the article, then you would be lying if you said that you are not out of control. Yet, don’t despair. For, a return back to basic honesty is just what you need at this point on the road to recovery and freedom.

The Way to Absolute Deliverance from Sexual Immorality

You need to understand that all of the evil, sexual thoughts you have entertained in the past and are still delighting in, are in actuality, the very fuel which gives power to this monster. The thoughts themselves are fueled by the following: sensual talk, frequenting places of temptation, songs, letting your imagination go wild, movies, pictures, dances etc.

  •  1. Ask God for forgiveness, in detail confessing your sins to him of all that you remember doing immorally.
  •  2. Tell God you want absolute freedom from this ugly, self-destructive sin at any cost, so that you can live in a way that’s honoring to Him and also enjoy His gift of life.
  •  3. Determine to destroy all things that threaten holiness and True Love in your life. Keep your eyes and your imagination only focused on Jesus, Holiness and if you are married, on your spouse. If you are not married or engaged, then it helps also to keep reflecting on the pure choice God has in store for those who trust in Him and wait on Christ.(Job 31:1) Divorce yourself from lust, flirting, looking at sexually provocative things, being with such people, working in such environments etc.
  •  4. Attend a church where Gods holy standards are truly emphasized all the time and fellowship with others who are pursuing holiness.
  •  5. Begin to read the Bible and memorize key verses on sexual sin and repentance from such etc. It’s the Word of God that will set you free. So begin to breathe it and drink it and eat it by reading, memorizing and meditating on it.
  •  6. Pray daily beginning from the morning that God would make you a new man or woman after His own Heart.(2 Cor 5:17) Believe God will make you a pure person from the inside out, cleansing you with His precious Blood which alone can cleanse and make you new.
  •  7. Begin a program of fasting. The spiritual value of the weapon of fasting (when accompanied by intense, faith-filled prayer) cannot be stressed enough. You can begin by skipping a meal or two up to fasting for a day or two (or more as necessary) during the week. This will keep you humble and rob you of the extra energy to do evil. The spiritual significance in true Christian fasting is that the Lord will look on one’s sincerity, faith and diligence in seeking Him with all the heart and supply the supernatural strength necessary to overcome the sin.

Follow these 7 steps to Perfect Victory!

While you do, be sure to read and hold onto this following guarantee from Gods Word:

Psalm 119:9-11

Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Dear friend struggling with sexual sin, you are made to be victorious by God. Do not give up. The Devil and lust have no authority over you unless you yourself give into it. So, follow the above 7 winning, Bible-based steps and you are guaranteed to overcome and enjoy life the way you were meant to by an All-Wise, Loving Creator God.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
       (Matthew 5:8)

Amen!

Take Time to be Holy

Take time to be holy.”  It’s a famous phrase.  There’s a song also with the same title.  Here is the essence of it for you today and the implications that must follow.  God has washed us in His Blood and made us share in His Holiness; partakers of His Divine nature as the apostle Peter puts it.  However, we must live and walk in that holiness and seek to go deeper and deeper in that experience.  For it is a vast ocean to be explored and experienced.  It is not difficult to digest when we have the right desire and motive. It involves a desire and dedication to be like Jesus and share in His supernatural plans for the perfecting of our own character in holiness and subsequently, sharing in our Best Friend’s Own secret plans for the redemption of our generation.  Holiness is the only way to see Him. (Heb 12:14)To seek God takes time as well as dedication.  If you are dedicated to living holy, then the things of God will become a priority.  It will be a delight.  A refreshing delight in the sunshine of His Love.We need to relax in Jesus Presence.  We are so busy these days.  A lot of distractions and necessary duties.  But, inside the peace and true purpose gets sapped out of us.  God has seated us in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Colossians 3) and we have to, ” seek those things which are above.”  We need to realize what we are really about every day of our life in this passing, perishing world. We need to breathe holiness in, so it can be breathed out to this filthy world.  We’ve got to make time for this.  We need to bask in His Love, to spend a quiet and delightful, purposeful time with the Lord Who loves us so much and wants to use us.  Lost in His Wonder, as it were.

A simple prayer, “Lord, help me to be holy” is not sufficient.  Actions must follow in faith.  We must train our body and mind and spirit towards and in holiness.  “…exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

(1 Timothy 4:7b)  Rejecting the foolish talk and things of this world and feeding rather on the things of God, i.e. spiritual food from the Word.

We need to turn our daily attention toward how we can be more and more holy like Jesus.  Then people will want to be like that too and want the things of God.  The things of the world only then will become strangely dim as its true value is revealed.

Happiness follows holiness and holiness is gained when we spend time with the Holy One of Israel.  We get transformed and begin to reflect His Glory in this way.

Are you happy in Jesus today? Jesus Christ’s Presence and favor is truly refreshing.  When was the last time you felt that way?

We need to think in terms of Eternity.  One man prayed, “O Lord, please stamp eternity on my eyelids.”  He meant that he wanted to see and think like God does. Far beyond his own little world and amusements and troubles.  He wanted to become a co-laborer with the Lord in the grand scheme of His Purpose for Eternity.  He wanted to be God’s friend just like Abraham.  What a wonderful request and God granted it and he is the leader of a tremendous christian relief organization today for the needy children of the world! If that Christian leader was not interested in holiness, he would not have been answered by God in that way or entrusted by the Lord with His Holy Purpose in that way.  Do you want such a holy desire to live and please and work for God? To be a true friend of God?  I do.

The wonderful truth is that you can have that heavenly purpose and really feel peace and refreshing by the Holy Spirit.  You can desire and gain holiness in the presence of your Best Friend even today and right now if you …

Take time to be holy!

Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in Him always, and feed on His Word.
Make friends of God’s children, help those who are weak,
Forgetting in nothing His blessing to seek.

Take time to be holy, the world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret, with Jesus alone.
By looking to Jesus, like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct His likeness shall see.

Take time to be holy, let Him be thy Guide;
And run not before Him, whatever betide.
In joy or in sorrow, still follow the Lord,
And, looking to Jesus, still trust in His Word.

Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul,
Each thought and each motive beneath His control.
Thus led by His Spirit to fountains of love,
Thou soon shalt be fitted for service above.
